Computerized EEG Mapping During Cognitive Activation with Verbal Task

چکیده
This study aimed a t investigating patterns of EEG reactivity during cognitive activation with word fluency test. Thirty two healthy volunteers were investigated using brain mapping system during rest, with eyes closed and while performing the task. EEG maps showing the difference between the two conditions, as well a s off-line statistical analysis were performed. There was involvement of the left hemisphere as shown by reactivity in the alpha band frequency. Changes in the beta activity showed a different pattern, i.e., they were more localized than changes in the alpha activity; and took place mainly in the frontotemporal areas. The results a re in accordance with neuropsychological these findings to brain-mind and patients a r e findings. The implications of research i n normal subjects discussed. (Egypt.J. Cognition and affective style: Individual differences in brain electrical activity during spatial and verbal tasks.
Relations between brain electrical activity and performance on two cognitive tasks were examined in a normal population selected to be high on self-reported measures of Positive or Negative Affectivity. Twenty-five right-handed women, from an original pool of 308 college undergraduates, were the participants. EEG was recorded during baseline and during psychometrically matched spatial and verba...

This study examined the effects of age and sex on mental rotation performance, verbal performance, and brain-wave activity. Thirty-two 8-year-olds (16 boys) and 32 college students (16 men) had EEG recorded at baseline and while performing four computerized tasks: a two-dimensional (2D) gingerbread man mental rotation, a 2D alphanumeric mental rotation, of three-dimensional (3D) basketball play...
متن کاملEEG hemispheric asymmetries during cognitive tasks in depressed patients with high versus low trait anxiety.
Studies of regional hemispheric asymmetries point to relatively less activity in left frontal and right posterior regions in depression. Anxiety was associated with increased right posterior activity, which may be related to arousal and, in anxious-depressed individuals, offset the posterior asymmetry typically seen in depression. These asymmetries have been indexed by resting EEG or inferred t...
متن کاملThe creative brain: investigation of brain activity during creative problem solving by means of EEG and FMRI.
Cortical activity in the EEG alpha band has proven to be particularly sensitive to creativity-related demands, but its functional meaning in the context of creative cognition has not been clarified yet. Specifically, increases in alpha activity (i.e., alpha synchronisation) in response to creative thinking can be interpreted in different ways: As a functional correlate of cortical idling, as a ...
